9600GT TV-Out Problems
I recently got a 9600GT for the purpose of playing certain games on my computer, and since putting it into my machine, I’ve had a really good experience. Yesterday, however, I tried hooking my TV up to my desktop so a friend of mine could watch a movie while I worked, and no matter what I tried, nothing seemed to work. I tried fiddling with the options in the Nvidia control panel but it remained undetected. I tried rolling back drivers to the default ones used by Vista. I then tried reinstalling the drivers (to version 175.16), and that didn’t work either. I was seriously on the verge of giving up till I found this.
It seems that a lot of new video cards send out a signal via the first pin of their s-video out port and wait for a return signal via the third pin to check if a TV is actually there. Not all TVs, however, seem to realise this, which was definitely true in the case of my tv (such a relief)!
